Anthropic Pilots “Claude for Chrome” — Limited 1,000-User Preview
Anthropic has begun a limited research preview of Claude for Chrome, a Chrome extension that allows the Claude AI assistant to read, navigate and interact with webpages and forms on a user’s behalf. The pilot is restricted to 1,000 subscribers on Anthropic’s Max tier and aims to collect real-world usage data to improve features and safety.
What it does
- Gives Claude permission to access webpages and complete forms.
- Enables task automation such as drafting emails, managing calendars, and filling out web forms.
- Designed to be an assistant that can take actions in the browser with user consent.
Why the limited rollout?
The restricted preview lets Anthropic observe how Claude behaves in everyday tasks and refine safety protections before a wider release. The company has flagged risks such as prompt injection, where malicious content on web pages could cause unwanted actions, and is actively developing mitigations.
