Google has announced the Pixel Watch 4 at their Made by Google event. This new smartwatch comes with a newly-designed, larger 45mm domed display and exceptional brightness up to 3,000 nits. What’s impressive is the battery life which can last up to 40 hours on a single charge, enabling all-day and night use for sleep tracking. It also charges 25% faster than its predecessor.
A standout feature is SOS satellite communications for emergency services connectivity, even without cellular or Wi-Fi. This feature was first introduced with the Pixel 9 series phones.
The Pixel Watch 4 is the first smartwatch by Google with serviceability in mind, making battery and screen replacements easier. It tracks over 40 exercises and includes an AI-based fitness coach available initially for Fitbit Premium users. Health metrics include an ECG app, irregular heart rhythm notifications, and a feature to detect when a heart stops beating, automatically connecting users to emergency services. All health data is viewable on an integrated dashboard.
Designed with Google Gemini, it includes a speaker and raise-to-talk functionality, using Gemini to answer questions via integrated apps.
The watch is available in two sizes, 41mm and 45mm, and supports various accessories including different bands. New and redesigned watch faces are available. Sale starts on October 9, with prices starting at $349.
