Escape from Tarkov 1.0 — Four Endings, a Rare ‘Best’ Ending, Steam Launch & Likely No Wipe
At Tokyo Game Show, Escape from Tarkov director Nikita Buyanov confirmed that the game will include four possible endings, with the top-tier “best ending” designed to be extremely difficult to achieve — Buyanov estimates only around 2% of players will reach it. He described that ending as a major accomplishment: “You can treat it as an achievement of your life to finally escape from Tarkov.”
Release timing and platform
After more than eight years in beta/early access, Escape from Tarkov is scheduled to exit early access with a 1.0 release on November 15, 2025. The game will also debut on Steam around that time.
Progress wipes and character systems
Buyanov said the team is leaning toward “probably no wipe” at launch, although no final decision was confirmed at the Q&A. He also noted the game will feature seasonal characters (subject to typical seasonal wipes) as well as a permanent main character that retains progression indefinitely.
Future content
Even after the 1.0 release the team says there is a long roadmap ahead — Buyanov suggested the studio has content planned for the next five years, with many details still under wraps.
Key points
- Four endings total; “best” ending is extremely rare (~2% of players).
- Full 1.0 release scheduled for Nov 15, 2025, with a Steam launch.
- Developer leaning toward no wipe at launch; seasonal and permanent character systems planned.
- Major post-launch content planned over the following years.
