ExpressVPN moves to tiered Basic / Advanced / Pro pricing
ExpressVPN has switched to a tiered pricing model with three levels — Basic, Advanced and Pro — each available as monthly, 1-year or 2-year subscriptions. That means nine possible ways to subscribe, starting today.
What’s changed
- Features are now tied to tiers instead of subscription duration. Previously, the full feature set required a 24-month plan.
- Some Identity Defender features (identity monitoring, credit reports, data removal) are rolled into higher tiers. ID protection features remain US-only.
- Device limits increase up to 14 simultaneous connections on Pro plans.
- Legacy plans remain active for now and current customers won’t be downgraded.
Tier breakdown (high level)
- Basic — Core VPN (Lightway), no ad/tracker/parental blockers, 10 devices. Pricing: $12.99/mo, $74.85/yr, $97.72/2yr.
- Advanced — 12 devices, blockers + parental controls, ExpressVPN Keys, 3–5 days eSIM, Identity Defender features (US only). Pricing: $13.99/mo, $89.85/yr, $125.72/2yr.
- Pro — Dedicated IP included, monthly credit reports & data removal, 14 devices, larger Aircove discount. Pricing: $19.99/mo, $134.95/yr, $209.72/2yr.
What this means for shoppers
ExpressVPN isn’t adding new features so much as reorganizing who gets access to them. Two-year plans can be cheaper than before, but a 1-year Basic may still cost more than competitors. If you’re considering Basic, confirm it includes essentials like the Network Lock kill switch and split tunneling on your platform.
