ExpressVPN moves to tiered pricing — Basic, Advanced, Pro
ExpressVPN has shifted to a tiered pricing model with three service levels — Basic, Advanced and Pro — each available as monthly, 1-year and 2-year subscriptions. That creates nine subscription options in total. Legacy plans remain active for now and existing customers won’t be downgraded.
What changed
- Features are now tied to the subscription tier rather than plan duration (previously some features required a 24-month plan).
- Some Identity Defender features (identity monitoring, credit reports, data removal, leak alerts and identity-theft insurance) are rolled into higher tiers — these ID protection features remain limited to users in the United States.
- Maximum simultaneous connections increase (up to 14 on Pro).
Tier breakdown
Basic
- Core VPN features: Lightway protocol, Network Lock (kill switch), split tunneling on supported platforms
- Ad & malicious-site blockers (no tracker blocker or parental controls)
- 10 simultaneous devices
- Pricing: $12.99/mo | $74.85/yr | $97.72/2yr
Advanced
- 12-device limit
- Blockers, parental controls, ExpressVPN Keys password manager
- Identity Defender features: leak alerts, $1M identity-theft insurance, data removal, credit monitoring (US only)
- eSIM service days and Aircove router discount (details vary)
- Pricing: $13.99/mo | $89.85/yr | $125.72/2yr
Pro
- Dedicated IP included
- 14 simultaneous connections
- Monthly credit reports & data removal
- Largest Aircove discount
- Pricing: $19.99/mo | $134.95/yr | $209.72/2yr
What this means for buyers
Feature access is now a matter of tier, not subscription length. Two-year Basic plans are cheaper than previous two-year pricing, while Advanced 1yr/2yr are also cheaper than before. A Basic subscription retains ExpressVPN’s core strengths while omitting some peripheral features.
