Google Play Games: New profiles with stats, milestones & social features
Google is rolling out an update to the Play Games app that adds profile stats, milestones and new social features. The rollout begins on September 23 (with a delayed start on October 1 for the EU and UK). Profiles will show which games you’ve played, how long you’ve played them, and achievements you’ve unlocked.
Key changes
- Profiles display games played, play time, milestones and achievements.
- New social features (follow players, profile visibility options); exact features are still being clarified.
- Google may collect usage data from games you’ve installed or played and may share in-game activity with developers.
- One-time option to import past activity from your account history to populate profile stats.
- Privacy controls: make your profile public, private, or delete it entirely. Adjust settings under Activity Controls.
Privacy & developer access
Google says it will collect data about installed and played games, session times and certain in-game activity for supported titles. Developers may receive some of this activity data. If you prefer not to have data used to populate a profile, you can delete your Play Games profile or change collection settings via Activity Controls.
How to manage your profile
- Open Settings > Google > Settings for Google apps > Play Games.
- Review Profile and privacy settings to set visibility or delete your profile.
- Use Activity Controls in your Google account to manage what gaming data is collected.
