Meta Connect 2025 — What to Expect
Meta Connect (Sept 17–18) looks set to be focused on smart glasses, AI and the metaverse. Here’s a concise breakdown of the main things to watch.
Hypernova / “Celeste” smart glasses
Expect Meta’s first consumer-ready smart glasses with a built-in display (likely a monocular HUD) and an EMG wristband for gesture/control input. Leaked details suggest limited AR immersion (notifications, photo previews) rather than full spatial AR. The device is reportedly codenamed Hypernova and may be marketed as Celeste, with an estimated price around $800.
Updated Ray‑Ban Meta models
Meta may also refresh its Ray‑Ban Meta lineup with improved cameras, battery life and expanded AI features. Leaked renders indicate possible sunglass and clear-frame variants. Meta is reportedly expanding developer access to the glasses platform, which could unlock more third-party apps.
Meta AI
AI will be central to the talks: expect updates to Meta’s LLaMA models, new character-driven chatbots for non-English markets, and tighter integration of Meta AI across glasses and apps. Meta has said its AI products have over a billion monthly users — more new features are likely.
Horizon OS & third‑party VR headsets
While no new Quest hardware is expected, Meta may highlight Horizon OS updates and third-party headsets running Meta’s software. The ASUS ROG Tarius — a rumored third‑party Horizon OS headset with eye and face tracking — is one to watch.
