MotoE World Championship on Hiatus After 2025

MotoE World Championship to go on hiatus after 2025

The FIM and MotoGP (Dorna Sports) have announced that the MotoE World Championship will be put on an indefinite hiatus following the 2025 season. Officials cited low viewership and an electric performance motorcycle market that “has not developed as expected” as the primary reasons.

FIM President Jorge Viegas said: “Despite all the best efforts to promote this innovative category together with Dorna, the truth is that we haven’t reached our objectives, nor has the industry associated with performance electric bikes.”

Key points

  • The hiatus begins after the final two races of the 2025 MotoE season.
  • MotoE debuted in 2019 and expanded to a larger calendar before being scaled back; 2025 featured seven rounds.
  • Ducati has supplied the MotoE race bikes since 2023; those bikes reached top speeds around 171 MPH.
  • Organizers will monitor industry developments and consider returning MotoE if electric or alternative technologies become viable for sustained competition.
