OBS Studio 32 — Free video mixer with Mac improvements

OBS Studio 32 has been released (beta/RC stage) with several new features and macOS-specific enhancements. OBS is a widely used open-source tool for live streaming, recordings and online presentations across macOS, Windows and Linux.

Key highlights

  • Basic plugin manager to simplify plugin management.
  • Opt-in automatic crash log uploads for Windows and macOS to improve debugging.
  • NVIDIA RTX audio updates: Voice Activity Detection (VAD) for better speech handling.
  • NVIDIA RTX background removal: new option to remove chairs from the background.
  • Hybrid MOV support and enhanced media format compatibility.
  • ProRes codec support on macOS; HEVC/H.264 video and PCM audio improvements across platforms.
  • Preparations for a Metal renderer on macOS for future performance gains.
  • Various audio fixes (better deduplication in nested scenes, fixes to audio duplication when capturing monitoring devices) and multiple bug fixes for macOS stability.

OBS Studio 32 is currently rolling out as beta/release-candidate builds while final testing continues. The plugin manager UI is basic for now and expected to be expanded in later updates.
