ROG Xbox Ally & ROG Xbox Ally X — Preorder, Specs & Pricing
Microsoft and ASUS (ROG) have launched preorders for two new Xbox-branded handhelds. The lineup includes:
- ROG Xbox Ally — $599.99 (standard model)
- ROG Xbox Ally X — $999.99 (premium model)
Both devices launch globally on October 16, 2025. They run Windows 11 and can play your purchased Xbox and PC games, stream from your console, or use Xbox Cloud Gaming. Microsoft will mark thousands of titles as Handheld Optimized or Mostly Compatible at launch.

- RAM: Ally — 16GB (6,400 MT/s); Ally X — 24GB (8,000 MT/s)
- Storage: Ally — 512GB SSD; Ally X — 1TB SSD (both have M.2 2280 slot + microSD)
- Battery: Ally — 60 Wh; Ally X — 80 Wh
- Ports: Ally — 2x USB-C (USB 3.2 Gen 2); Ally X — 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 + 1x USB4 (Thunderbolt 4, DP 2.1, eGPU support)
- Display: 7″ 1080p 120Hz, Gorilla Glass Victus, FreeSync Premium, 500 nits (both)

Availability
Preorders are available in multiple countries and both handhelds are expected in additional markets after the initial launch list. Accessories like a SanDisk microSD for the handhelds and a Seagate SSD supporting DirectStorage are also available for preorder.
Should you buy one?
If you want a portable Xbox+PC experience and cross-device continuity, the standard Ally at ~$600 offers a solid value. If you need the highest performance, more RAM, storage and extra port versatility, the Ally X at $1,000 targets demanding players who want console-level performance on the go.
