Fujifilm X‑T30 III adds film-simulation dial, 6.2K video and faster AF — still no IBIS

Fujifilm X‑T30 III adds film‑simulation dial, 6.2K video and faster AF — still no IBIS

Mirrorless camera with dials on a table

Fujifilm has answered what comes next for its compact X‑T30 line. The new X‑T30 III keeps the 26.1MP X‑Trans sensor but adds a faster image processor, improved AI subject‑detect autofocus, and a dedicated film‑simulation dial — while staying remarkably light for travel and street work.

What’s new at a glance

  • Film‑simulation dial: Replaces the previous mode dial (as seen on X‑M5/X‑T50) for quick access to looks like Reala Ace and Nostalgic Neg, plus 3 custom recipe slots.
  • Speed & AF: New processor doubles processing speed vs. the last model and brings AI subject detection (Auto‑Tracking, Animals, Birds, Vehicles).
  • Video upgrade: Up to 6.2K/30p across the full sensor, or 4K/60p with a mild 1.18× crop, with 10‑bit recording modes for better dynamic range.
  • Compact body: About 378 g (13.33 oz), with the familiar X‑T series dials/buttons layout.

Key specs and trade‑offs

  • Sensor: 26.1MP X‑Trans APS‑C (1.5× crop vs. full frame).
  • Stabilization: No in‑body image stabilization (IBIS). Use OIS lenses or electronic stabilization for video.
  • Burst shooting: Up to 8 fps mechanical, 20 fps electronic.
  • Displays: 2.36M‑dot EVF; rear screen tilts (does not fully flip).
  • I/O: microHDMI with RAW video output, a 2.5 mm mic input, and a single UHS‑I SD card slot.
  • Battery life: Rated up to 425 shots per charge.

New companion lens

Fujifilm also announced the Fujinon XC13‑33mmF3.5‑6.3 OIS, an ultra‑wide to normal zoom (≈20–50mm full‑frame equivalent) with optical stabilization. It’s slated to ship around November 2025 for $399.

Price and availability

  • X‑T30 III body: $999, pre‑orders open now; shipping planned for November 2025.
  • Colors: Black, Charcoal Silver, and Silver.

Who should consider it?

  • Travel/street photographers: Light body, tactile controls, and the new film‑sim dial make creative looks fast and fun.
  • Hybrid shooters: 6.2K/30 and 4K/60 10‑bit are strong for the price, but the lack of IBIS and a 2.5 mm mic jack may push video‑first users toward bodies like the X‑S20.
  • Upgraders from X‑T30/II: You’ll notice better AF/tracking, broader video options, and that new dial — but the sensor remains 26.1MP.

Discussion: Does a film‑simulation dial and 6.2K 10‑bit video make the X‑T30 III a compelling compact upgrade, or is the lack of IBIS a deal‑breaker for you?
