How to Cancel ExpressVPN and Get a Refund
ExpressVPN remains a top VPN choice for speed and ease of use, but if you want to stop your subscription, the process is straightforward. This guide summarizes the fastest ways to cancel, how to turn off auto‑renew, and how refunds work so you don’t lose access unexpectedly.
Canceling via desktop
Sign in at expressvpn.com, open My Account, go to Subscription, then find the Subscription details box and click Cancel Subscription. The cancellation is instant and will immediately revoke access unless you instead turn off auto‑renew (see below).
Canceling on mobile
The mobile flow is the same using your browser: visit expressvpn.com, open My Account from the menu, go to Subscription, and tap Cancel Subscription. Follow the on‑screen prompts to finish.
When you subscribed through an app store
If you originally subscribed via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store (including free trials offered there), you must cancel through that store’s subscription management:
- Apple: App Store → Subscriptions → select ExpressVPN → Cancel
- Android: Google Play → Payment & subscriptions → Subscriptions → select ExpressVPN → Cancel
Refunds and automatic renewals
ExpressVPN offers a full refund if you cancel within 30 days of purchase. If your subscription renewed without your consent, you have 14 days to request a refund for that renewal. There’s no dedicated refund button — contact support via the live chat on the ExpressVPN Support page and ask for a refund.
Alternatives if you want to switch
Depending on your priorities, you might prefer other providers:
- Proton VPN — privacy-focused and often more affordable.
- NordVPN — feature-rich clients and strong security features.
- Surfshark — top speeds and good value for multiple devices.
If you don’t want to lose immediate access, consider turning off automatic renewal instead of cancelling so your subscription runs until the period ends. You can re-enable renewal if you change your mind.
