How to change your Apple Account password (iPhone, iPad, Mac & web)
Your Apple Account (formerly Apple ID) controls purchases, subscriptions and personal data across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro. If you think your account has been compromised, you logged in on a shared device, or you haven’t updated your password in a while, update it now.

Change a child’s password
On a device with the latest iOS/iPadOS/visionOS and two-factor authentication enabled: Settings → Family → your child’s account → Apple Account & Password → Change Child’s Password. Enter device passcode and follow prompts.
Change password on Mac (macOS Sequoia or later)

Reset password if you forgot it
If you can’t remember your password, you can reset it using a trusted device that’s already signed in (Settings → Your Name → Sign‑In & Security → Change Password on an iPhone/iPad/visionOS device, or System Settings on Mac). If you don’t have a trusted device, try:
- Borrowing a friend or family member’s Apple device or using an Apple Store device to open the Apple Support app and choose “Help Someone Else”.
- Reset at iforgot.apple.com and follow the instructions.
Tips for a strong Apple Account password
- Use at least eight characters.
- Mix uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols.
- Avoid common words, dates or easily guessed info.
- Don’t reuse recent passwords; use a password manager to store generated passwords.
