iOS 26.1: New “Slide to Stop” Alarm Design to Prevent Accidental Dismissals

Good news for groggy iPhone users: Apple has tweaked the alarm UI in iOS 26.1 so it’s harder to turn alarms off by accident. Instead of a quick tap to dismiss, alarms now require a deliberate slide to the right to stop them. The Snooze option remains a tap.

What changed

  • Alarms: must slide right to stop (prevents accidental dismissals when still half-asleep).
  • Snooze: still a tap, so you can quickly snooze without the slide gesture.
  • Introduced in iOS 26.1 beta 2 as a response to user feedback and bug reports.

Why it matters

The change reduces the chance of accidentally dismissing an alarm by a stray tap or when touching the screen before you’re fully awake. It’s a small UX tweak that can help prevent oversleeping.
