YouTube Shorts to Gain Adobe Premiere Mobile Editing (Adobe Max 2025)

YouTube Shorts to gain Adobe Premiere mobile editing tools

Video editing on a phone

Adobe announced at Adobe Max 2025 that Adobe Premiere mobile will be integrated into YouTube Shorts. Creators will be able to click an “Edit in Adobe Premiere” option in Shorts and access Premiere’s mobile editing tools, Firefly-powered AI features, generative sound effects and exclusive presets directly within the Shorts workflow.

The integration aims to eliminate the current export step — creators who previously had to finish editing in Premiere then export and upload can now edit and publish more smoothly. Adobe says the experience will include pro-grade tools, preset templates for Shorts, and options to create and share custom templates among creators.

What to expect

  • Direct editing in Shorts: Tap “Edit in Adobe Premiere” to open Premiere mobile tools inside the Shorts flow.
  • Firefly AI features: Generative effects and assisted editing powered by Adobe Firefly for faster workflows.
  • Generative sound effects: Access to AI-generated audio elements tuned for short-form video.
  • Exclusive presets & templates: Shorts-specific effects, transitions and shareable templates to help creators stand out.

Availability

Adobe says Premiere mobile will appear in YouTube Shorts “soon,” but did not provide a precise timeline. Premiere mobile already launched on iOS earlier this year, and this integration looks like the next step to bring native editing tools directly into YouTube’s short-form platform.

Why this matters

The move tightens the relationship between professional mobile editing and short-form publishing. For creators, it reduces friction between editing and posting, and Adobe’s Firefly AI features could speed up repetitive tasks. For YouTube, offering deeper editing tools helps Shorts compete with TikTok and Instagram Reels by enabling higher-quality, more polished short videos.

Discussion: Would you edit Shorts directly in Adobe Premiere mobile inside YouTube — or do you prefer separate apps for editing and publishing? What Shorts editing features would you like to see become standard?
