Proton: Emergency Access for up to 5 trusted contacts
Proton has launched an Emergency Access feature for paid users that lets you designate up to five trusted contacts who can access your Proton Account if you become incapacitated or otherwise unable to respond.
What’s included
- Covers Proton services such as Proton Mail, Proton Pass (password manager), Proton Drive and Proton VPN.
- Trusted contacts can be granted immediate access with the owner’s approval or automatic access after a custom waiting period that the owner sets.
- Designed to prevent important encrypted data from becoming permanently inaccessible in unexpected situations.
Availability
The feature is available to paid Proton plans (for example, Proton Unlimited or upgraded Proton Mail/Pass/Drive/VPN plans). Users can configure Emergency Access through the Emergency Access menu in Proton apps.
