Saros — First Gameplay Reveal & PS5 Release Date
Housemarque (Returnal, Resogun) opened PlayStation’s State of Play with the first extended gameplay look at its new IP, Saros. The developer’s first fully new project since joining PlayStation Studios in 2021, Saros stars Arjun Devraj (performance and voice by Rahul Kohli) and is set on the shape-shifting, eclipse-shadowed world of Carcosa.
What we saw
- Third-person action with fast, projectile-heavy combat in the vein of Returnal.
- Arjun can activate a shield that deflects and redirects enemy projectiles to charge a power weapon.
- A revival mechanic gives Arjun a second chance after his first death, while deaths still play into progression.
- Highly polished visuals and atmospheric world design.
Release date: March 20, 2026 — PlayStation 5 (PS5 Pro enhancements confirmed).

Quick take
Saros looks like a natural evolution of Housemarque’s gameplay-first design: fast-paced combat, risk-reward progression tied to death, and striking environments. The shield-redirection mechanic and the revival feature stood out in the gameplay reveal.
