iPhone 17: Silicone cover may prevent MagSafe scratches
Reports say Apple has instructed store staff to replace MagSafe charging stands and given cleaning guidance after customers noticed the iPhone 17’s back is prone to scratches. A silicone MagSafe cover is being suggested as a simple way to reduce marks.
What happened
Several reports indicated the new iPhone’s rear surface is particularly sensitive to scratches from MagSafe accessories. In response, Apple apparently asked employees in retail stores to swap out MagSafe charging stands and provided cleaning instructions for the new phones.
Possible fix
A silicone MagSafe-compatible cover is recommended by some to prevent direct contact and protect the finish. If you’re looking for options, here’s a search link to relevant products on Amazon (affiliate): Silicone MagSafe cases on Amazon.
