ChatGPT Adds Third‑Party Apps with New Apps SDK
OpenAI announced at DevDay that ChatGPT can now integrate third‑party apps directly in the chat experience using a new Apps SDK. That means you can interact with apps like Canva, Coursera, Figma, Spotify, and Zillow without leaving ChatGPT. In the coming weeks, DoorDash, OpenTable, Target, and Uber are expected to become available as well.
What you can do
- Ask ChatGPT to use an app: e.g., “Spotify, make a playlist for my party this Friday.” The first time you call an app you’ll be prompted to connect your account.
- ChatGPT can pass context to apps (moods, themes, topics) and surface results back in the chat, then link you to the app to interact or listen.
Apps available at launch
- Canva
- Coursera
- Figma
- Spotify
- Zillow
Coming soon
- DoorDash
- OpenTable
- Target
- Uber
It’s early days: partners say the integration will improve over weeks and months. OpenAI is also preparing submission guidelines and an app directory so developers can publish and monetize their apps.
