Google Adds Shoe Virtual Try-On to Google Shopping

Google Adds Shoe Virtual Try-On to Google Shopping

Google has expanded its virtual try-on feature to include shoes (initially rolling out in the US). Shoppers can tap “Try It On” on eligible product pages in Google Search or Google Shopping, upload a full-length photo of themselves, and see the selected shoes realistically overlaid on their image.

How it works

  1. Find a shoe in Google Search or Shopping and tap “Try It On.”
  2. Upload a clear, full-length photo of yourself standing upright in good lighting.
  3. Google’s AI swaps the shoes in your photo with the pair you selected and generates a preview you can save or share.

Photo & usage rules

  • Use photos of yourself or someone who gave permission; uploads of children are not allowed.
  • For best results, use solo, well-lit photos with minimal background clutter and non-baggy clothing.
  • Google says generated images are approximations — they help visualize style with an outfit but don’t guarantee fit.

Privacy & data handling

According to Google, images uploaded for try-on aren’t retained for training, are not shared with other apps or third parties, and no biometric data is collected or stored. Users can delete the original upload and any generated images if they choose.

Limitations & tips

  • The try-on preview may not perfectly account for body shape or exact fit — treat it as a visual guide.
  • If you want accurate fit information, double-check size charts and reviews before buying.
