Apple brings Vision Pro app to iPad with iPadOS 26.1 — queue headset downloads from your tablet

Vision Pro app coming to iPad with iPadOS 26.1

Apple has quietly announced that the dedicated Vision Pro app will arrive on iPad via iPadOS 26.1 later this fall. The iPad version will mirror the iPhone app (available since iOS 18.4), letting users browse curated spatial apps, games, and experiences and queue downloads for their Vision Pro headset without needing to wear it.

The move makes it easier to discover and manage Vision Pro content from a tablet, perfect for previewing apps or scheduling installs before you put the headset on.

  • App availability: iPadOS 26.1 (this fall)
  • Key features: curated spatial content, app/game recommendations, news, tips, product info, account settings, and download queuing
  • Context: Vision Pro app has been on iPhone since iOS 18.4

Apple also revealed an upgraded Vision Pro headset powered by the M5 chip — the same chip used in the newest iPad Pro and MacBook Pro. The M5 brings a 10-core GPU for stronger graphics and gaming performance and generally faster app loading and web browsing. Apple says battery life is improved but didn’t share specific figures.

The updated Vision Pro is available for pre-order now at $3,499 and will begin shipping on October 22.

Why this matters: Letting iPad users browse and queue Vision Pro content lowers the friction to try spatial apps, improving discovery and convenience for potential headset owners.
