Quantic Dream, best known for narrative single-player titles like Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human, has revealed Spellcasters Chronicles — the studio’s first multiplayer game. The title is a 3 vs. 3, third-person magic MOBA that mixes deckbuilding, territory control, and spectacle-driven mechanics.

Matches are designed to last around 25 minutes as teams summon minions, capture altars, and ultimately destroy opposing lifestones. Unique features include free flight for every mage, large summonable titans that can swing the tide of battle, and the ability to place buildings and alter environments mid-match.

  • Gameplay: 3v3 third-person MOBA with flying mages, summoning, and strategic resource management.
  • Deckbuilding: Players choose spells, summons and a titan before battle; each spell has limited uses.
  • Monetization: Free-to-play with cosmetic-only purchases and seasonal battle passes — Quantic Dream says no pay-to-win elements.
  • Timeline: Closed beta on Steam later this year; console release with cross-play expected in 2026. Attendees at TwitchCon San Diego can try it firsthand.
  • Development: The project has been in development for around seven years, reflecting the studio’s push into competitive multiplayer while keeping a community-driven narrative approach called the “Tapestry of Fate.”

Quantic Dream emphasizes creativity and spectacle: players can infuse allies with spells for synergies, summon massive titans for dramatic moments, and reshape the battlefield with summoned structures. The developer plans frequent updates with new mages, spells and creatures, supporting a live-service roadmap.

Discussion: Does Quantic Dream’s blend of spectacle, free flight and deckbuilding make Spellcasters Chronicles a fresh take on the MOBA formula? What would you most want to try first — flying combat, titans, or deck-based strategy?
