AT&T to Raise Home Internet Prices $5/Month Starting Dec. 1
AT&T has notified home internet customers that their monthly plan rates will increase by $5 starting December 1. The move follows a similar $5 increase in November 2024 and comes despite AT&T reporting $4.9 billion in profit for the last quarter.
According to the company’s customer email and statements to reporters, AT&T says the increase is needed “to ensure [it continues] providing the quality service and support [customers] deserve.” The company is offering ways to offset the rise if customers enroll in eligible billing options:
- $10/month discount for customers who enroll an eligible bank account in Autopay and Paperless Billing.
- $5/month discount for customers who enroll a debit card in Autopay.
It’s unclear how long these discounts will remain available, and customers who already enabled Autopay previously may not qualify for the new discounts. AT&T says the price change will not apply to customers who signed up within the past year or to participants in its Access program for qualifying low-income households.
Key points to know:
- Effective date: December 1 (price increase of $5/month).
- Previous increase: $5/month in November 2024.
- Financial context: AT&T reported a $4.9B profit in the most recent quarter.
- Discounts: $10/mo for Autopay+Paperless (bank account), $5/mo for debit card Autopay — availability and duration unclear.

If you’re affected, consider checking your AT&T account settings to see if you’re eligible for the Autopay/paperless discounts, compare plans from other ISPs in your area, or contact AT&T customer service for clarification on applicability and timelines.
Discussion: Will this change make you stick with AT&T, enroll in Autopay/paperless billing, or look for another provider?
