Woolhaven DLC Brings Ranching and New Dangers to Cult of the Lamb
Massive Monster’s next Cult of the Lamb expansion, Woolhaven, will introduce a new mountain region, two dungeons and — notably — a full ranching system. Revealed in a developer overview video, the expansion lets you raise, name and bond with animals, tend to their needs and protect them from predators.
Ranching adds both practical and narrative hooks: you can shear animals for wool, keep them as pets, or harvest them for meat. Followers can also form attachments and have their own pets, which adds an extra layer of management and potential drama — especially in a game where chaos and cult politics are common.
- New area: Woolhaven mountain region and two dungeons
- Ranchable animals: cows-like creatures, goats, sheep, and unexpected critters such as crabs, snails, spiders and turtles
- Gameplay systems: naming, feeding, cleaning, bonding, predator threats, and follower interactions
- Release model: paid expansion, teased for early 2026; price and exact date not yet announced
The update promises a mix of wholesome animal care and the trademark dark surprises of Cult of the Lamb — expect both cozy ranch life and potential heartbreak when things go wrong. The developer has so far only confirmed an early-2026 window; details like exact pricing and release date will be announced later.
If you want to read the original overview and coverage, see the Engadget write-up here, or check the Cult of the Lamb Steam page for the base game here.

What this means for players:
- New base-building and resource options via wool and meat production.
- More micro-management: tending animals adds tasks and emotional stakes.
- Potential new quests, unlocks or gear tied to ranching and Woolhaven dungeons.
We’ll update this post when Massive Monster shares pricing and an exact release date. For now, start imagining which animals you’ll name first — are you team snail or team sheep?
Discussion: Which animal are you most excited to raise in Woolhaven, and how do you think ranching will change the core cult gameplay?
