Steam Deck gains display‑off low‑power mode to download with the screen off

Valve is introducing a display‑off low‑power mode for the Steam Deck that allows the handheld to continue downloading content while the screen is turned off. The feature is enabled by default when the device is plugged in, and can be allowed on battery in the power settings.

To protect battery life, the Steam Deck will automatically revert to full sleep when the battery drops below 20 percent. If you press the power button while a download is active, a prompt will ask whether the download should continue with the display off. An idle timeout also triggers the display‑off mode automatically.

• Similar to console rest modes, it lets you queue updates and background downloads without keeping the screen on.
