Mac running music app

Albums 7.0 brings the iPhone music manager to macOS as a standalone application. The Mac app mirrors the mobile version’s features and adapts the interface for desktop use, offering seamless playback continuation between iPhone and Mac.

The update also allows users to open the playback Queue and the MiniPlayer in separate windows for flexible desktop workflows. According to the release notes, the Mac version is available at no extra cost to existing users.

What’s new in Albums 7.0 for Mac

  • Native macOS application optimized for desktop use
  • Seamless handoff of playback between iPhone and Mac
  • Queue and MiniPlayer can float in their own windows for better multitasking
  • Feature parity with the iPhone app — no extra charge

Who will benefit

Users who manage large music libraries on iPhone and want a desktop companion will appreciate Albums’ macOS release. The separate MiniPlayer and Queue windows make it easier to control playback while working, and Handoff support eases switching between devices.

Where to get it

You can find Albums for Mac on the App Store or search for the app in the Mac App Store (opens in a new tab): Search Albums on the App Store.

Discussion: Will you try Albums on your Mac — or do you prefer other library managers? What desktop music features matter most to you (floating windows, sync/hand-off, tagging or smart playlists)?
