Pixelity to playtest Evangelion XR trilogy — on‑site sessions in Japan and California

XR headset

Pixelity will run on‑site focus group playtests for its upcoming Evangelion: Cross Reflections XR trilogy. Sessions are scheduled in Japan from December 19–21 and in California on December 19, with an equal number of participants at each venue. Interested fans can apply through Pixelity’s X account if they are nearby.

The XR trilogy was announced earlier this year and will be set within the original Neon Genesis Evangelion timeline. The first installment will focus on episodes 1–11 and is targeted for a 2026 release. Pixelity has not confirmed platforms yet, though headset releases such as Meta Quest are widely expected.

What to expect from the playtests

  • Hands‑on demos of early XR gameplay and interactions.
  • Feedback sessions to influence balance, comfort and narrative pacing.
  • Equal participant numbers at both Japan and California locations to gather varied player input.

Why it matters

Evangelion is a culturally significant anime with a passionate fanbase; adapting it to XR raises expectations for immersion, faithful storytelling and motion comfort. Playtests like these help developers tune the experience for both longtime fans and newcomers, especially for VR/XR where comfort and locomotion systems matter a lot.

To apply for a spot or get updates, follow Pixelity on X (Twitter/X) and watch for their application posts. If you can’t attend, expect more public demos and information as the 2026 release window approaches.

Discussion: Would you want to experience Evangelion in XR — focused on story episodes, cockpit simulation, or something more experimental? What would make an Evangelion XR game truly memorable for you?
