Splitgate: Arena Reloaded — a rebuilt return to classic arena combat
Developer 1047 Games is relaunching Splitgate under a new name: Splitgate: Arena Reloaded. After pulling Splitgate 2 back to beta earlier this year, the studio rebuilt the game with community feedback and will re-release the free-to-play title on December 17th for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
The goal for Arena Reloaded is clear — strip back the extras and return to the fast, skill-driven arena gameplay that made the original popular. 1047 says it blended the best elements of Splitgate 1 and 2 while removing features that distracted from core combat.
What changed for Arena Reloaded
- Factions, abilities and select equipment removed to refocus on classic arena combat.
- Progression rebuilt from the ground up with earnable weapon and character cosmetics.
- Classic Arena mode added with even starts and new map pickup mechanics.
- Combat fine‑tuned for clearer, more meaningful gunfights.
- Ranked system overhauled so ranks better reflect player skill.
- Added features: Mode Select, Player Stats, Ranked Leaderboards and Account Levels.
- Map updates: five brand new maps and six fully reworked arenas, bringing the pool to 20 maps.
- New weapons: three LMG primaries plus the return of the Power Weapon Railgun.
1047 Games publicly acknowledged that the initial Splitgate 2 launch was rushed and that player feedback played a major role in shaping this relaunch. The studio says the rebuild was focused on recapturing the “magic of the Arena” and delivering a more polished, competitive experience.
Context & community
The Splitgate saga included a rocky reception to Splitgate 2 and heated community moments earlier in the year. Arena Reloaded represents an attempt at course correction — prioritizing clarity in combat, fair progression and features competitive players asked for.
