PolyCapture: Merging Recording Files Now Possible

The recommended Mac application PolyCapture from software developer Martin Lexow has received an update. With the newly released version 1.10, the developer responds to a frequently expressed user request and now offers the possibility to merge separate recording files.

PolyCapture was originally introduced in September and is aimed primarily at creatives and educators. The software enables simultaneous recording of audio and video content from multiple sources, including webcams, microphones, iOS devices, and screen sections. The new update allows for merging separately recorded audio and video sources into a single file, with automatic synchronization of tracks. This feature is available to all users at no additional cost.

PolyCapture is optimized for Macs with Apple processors, emphasizing data privacy by securing all data locally. It can be downloaded for free from the Mac App Store, with full feature access requiring a one-time in-app purchase.

VTOMAN Jump 2200: Affordable Power Station Deal with Limitations

The VTOMAN Jump 2200 power station has caught our interest mainly because of its current low price and its ability to be used as a jump-start battery. It is configured for gasoline engines up to 8 liters and diesel engines up to 6 liters, although the necessary jumper cable must be purchased separately.

While useful for the cold season, the primary focus of a product in this price range is its standard functions as a power station. The built-in LiFePO4 battery has a capacity of 1,548 watt-hours and can be optionally extended. The included large grip makes it seem handy, but the weight of nearly 18 kilograms should not be underestimated. It’s crucial to consider your intended use before purchasing, as larger batteries offer more power but less portability.

The power station does not support fast charging, with the included charger delivering up to 328 watts, leading to an eight-hour charging time for the battery. For power output, it features three Schuko sockets, USB-C, USB-A, DC, and a car socket, providing up to 100 watts with USB-C and 2200 watts through the Schuko sockets. However, the loud fan triggered by high power output and the questionable peak power setting are notable downsides.

The typical list price on the manufacturer’s website is 1,399 euros, but at the post-discount price of 599 euros, it remains a good deal for a LiFePO4 battery with this capacity.
