Anker SOLIX Solarbank 2: A Comprehensive Review of the New Battery for Balcony Power Stations

# Unveiling the All-New Anker SOLIX Solarbank 2: Perfect Power Solution for Your Balcony Solar Plant

In the world of sustainable energy, Anker has taken a significant step forward by introducing the second generation of its SOLIX solar storage solution specifically designed for balcony solar power plants. The new lineup includes the Solarbank 2 Pro and Solarbank 2 Plus models, along with optional additional storage modules. These can be conveniently purchased through Anker’s official website or Amazon.

### Key Differences Between Solarbank 2 Pro and Solarbank 2 Plus

Before diving into the specifics, it’s essential to understand the differences between these two models. The Pro model allows for the direct and separate connection of up to four solar panels, supporting a total output of up to 2,400 watts. In contrast, the Solarbank 2 Plus is equipped with only two MPPTs (Maximum Power Point Trackers). If you only have space for two panels, the Solarbank 2 Plus should suffice. However, connecting each solar panel with its own MPPT enables optimized power generation.

### Integrated Inverter and Expandable Storage

One of the standout features of the Solarbank 2 is the integrated inverter, enabling the direct connection of solar modules. This inverter caps the feed-in power to the household at 800 watts, meaning any surplus solar production directly charges the battery.

Pricing-wise, there’s a €100 difference between the two models. The introductory price for the Solarbank 2 Plus is €999, while the Solarbank 2 Pro costs €1,099 up until June 10th. After this promotional period, both models will be available at an additional €100.

The second generation of the SOLIX Solarbank also boasts enhanced capacity options. Anker offers extension batteries, each with a capacity of 1.6 kWh, priced at €699. Up to five of these additional batteries can be connected, allowing for a total storage capacity of up to 9.6 kWh.

### Enhanced Features and Performance

We’ve already set up and tested the Solarbank 2 Pro, and it not only looks more sophisticated than its predecessor but also comes with significant improvements under the hood. A notable enhancement is its improved temperature tolerance. Unlike the first generation, which couldn’t charge its battery below 0°C, the Solarbank 2 works flawlessly in a temperature range from -20 to +55°C, making it ideal for outdoor installation.

Additionally, the Solarbank 2 features a power outlet that can deliver up to 1,000 watts, which is particularly useful during power outages.

### Easy Setup and Configuration

Setting up and connecting the Solarbank 2 is straightforward, even for those without technical know-how. All necessary cables and a solar cable key are included. If you’re using the Solarbank 2 with additional batteries, the package also includes appropriate brackets for secure stacking and wall mounting.

The additional modules are designed to be stackable, similar to building blocks, with automatic plug-and-play recognition for the extra storage.

### Monitoring and Configuration via App

Once the hardware is set up, the Anker app takes over. It recognizes the Solarbank, and any attached storage, as a single unit, offering options previously available with the first-generation solar storage. The app provides a comprehensive overview, displaying real-time data on current states and simulating power flow.

Supplementary infographics track metrics like solar yield and storage usage on daily, weekly, monthly, and annual bases. The stored solar power usage can be managed through a custom mode, allowing the system to prioritize household power needs and store any surplus in the battery. Conversely, it supplies power to the household when solar production isn’t sufficient.

### Introducing the SOLIX Smart Meter

New to Anker’s solar program is the SOLIX Smart Meter, available for €99. This handy device integrates seamlessly into the SOLIX system, offering real-time data on actual power consumption. Note that installing this smart meter in your fuse box requires professional help. It communicates with the SOLIX system over Wi-Fi, and an alternative magnetic antenna is included in the package for improved signal reception.

### Compatibility and Future Updates

For owners of the first-generation SOLIX Solarbank, there’s good news. While direct compatibility with new storage modules isn’t currently available, Anker is working on an update to allow the previous generation to serve as additional storage for the new system. This update is expected to roll out by the end of the year.

Until June 10th, Anker is offering various bundles with a 22% discount, including solar panels and, in some cases, a complimentary Smart Meter. These deals are available on both the SOLIX website and Amazon.

The Anker SOLIX Solarbank 2 promises to make sustainable energy more efficient and accessible, even for those with limited space for solar panels. Whether you opt for the Pro or Plus model, it’s time to harness the sun’s power more effectively.
